The Big Impact of Small Closets in Maximizing Space and Home Organization
One of the biggest problems I’ve seen homeowners run into over the years is struggling to find extra space in small closets. It can be easy to throw your hands up and assume you won’t find a solution, but this isn’t the case. From making better use of dividers to using storage bins, maximizing wall storage options, and more, I’ve got the tips you need to maximize the space and home organization in even the smallest of closets.
Once you’re ready to get started, you should:
- Make better use of dividers
- Incorporate storage bins
- Look to wall storage options
- Add in a door organizer
Now that I’ve given you the broad strokes, let’s dive into the details together.
Make Better Use of Dividers
As the professionals at Better Homes & Gardens note, one of the key ways of getting a small closet in order is to use dividers, especially when it comes to your drawer options. I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of dividers, as they keep items separated and make it easier to find things in a pinch.
This way, instead of spending precious time during your morning routine hunting around for that one specific accessory, you can know exactly where to look for everything right off the bat.
Incorporate Storage Bins
By far one of the most overlooked options for storage in a small closet space would have to be storage bins, in my opinion. These work especially well for all of those long-term storage items that you need but don’t need out right now.
You could even use storage bins to set aside out-of-season clothing or decorations. Then once the seasons change, you can simply swap out your items just like that.
Look to Wall Storage Options
By far one of the most underutilized areas in any closet system that I’ve seen is the wall space. With the simple addition of a few wall-mounted shelving units or even just a couple of hooks, you can give yourself a great deal more space.
Not only does this give you more storage space in the long run, but it also allows you to highlight and showcase certain items that you especially love.
Add in a Door Organizer
The last item on my list is by far the most cost-effective and useful option, I’d say. Door organizers are affordable and incredibly easy to install. Once you have installed it on the back of your closet door, you’ll instantly have a number of pouches available to store more items.
You can even opt for one with transparent pouches. That way, you can see exactly what’s in each pouch without having to root around and look for the item you need.
Conclusion
It’s all too easy to assume that you won’t be able to get more room out of your small closet space, but if you follow my tips and personalize them to suit your specific needs, you’ll be amazed by how you’re able to maximize your space and home organization.
